Polka Dot Dance

Vintage dress, brooch (on belt), necklace & necklace-worn-as-bracelet. Motif 56 belt. Miu Miu sandals.
"This is the story of a girl / Who cried a river & drowned the whole world / & while she looked so sad in photographs / I absolutely love her / When she smiles... / As long as we stand here waiting / Wearing the clothes or the soles that we choose / Now how do we get there today / When we're walking too far for the price of our shoes" - Nine Days, Absolutely (Story of a Girl)
A double dose of pearls + brooch = 1960s good girl Sandra Dee in the movie Take Her, She's Mine. My babydoll is awash in black coffee & cream as dots polka playfully around the top; I heightened the hem to make this dress more mod after spotting it at a church rummage sale in CT. The shape is meant to be boxy, but I feel undressed without a belt (to which I added an All-American metal flower pin). There’s been a recent Renaissance in my brooch collection - they're now the first pieces I seek on vintage expeditions. In addition to clasping them (usually at least three) to clothing the traditional way, I also pin one around a necklace as a pendant.
