Eighties baby... Inspired by Christophe Decarnin's great shoulder revival at Balmain for spring 2009 RTW (& still going strong), I slipped on this magenta vintage dress. Its shoulder pads/ruching along the neckline create a sleek silhouette; long sleeved frocks are a practical trend for fall, making sweaters superfluous.
As much happiness as a sequined Balmain frock would bestow upon me, I'm struck with the poignancy that something thirty years old is still relevant today. It makes me wonder if there's anything left to be invented - or only reinvented? If there's nothing new to discover (only things left to uncover), then (to quote Alfie), "What's it all about?" These are deep thoughts for a Saturday... I'll leave that question in the ether while I take my dress out for a night on the town.

Lovely dress :) I especially like the ruching on the shoulders, gorgeous :)
