Swinging Sixties

Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. Vintage costume enamel earrings. Vintage amethyst, bow, costume stone & diamond rings. Hue tights. Delman suede shoes.
My yellow dress (look #36 from Marc by Marc Jacobs' spring 2008 RTW fashion show) sparkles more strongly than autumnal sunshine & literally stands out - it's a mini version of one of Marie Antoinette’s frocks, which continue to inspire designers' (such as Zac Posen & D&G) fall 2009 RTW collections three centuries after she wore them.
I bought these rectangular white/gold enamel earrings at an estate sale... Their pattern reminds me of the Penguin 1994 edition of Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead as it conjures up the cover's image of one of architect Hank Reardon’s buildings pierced by rays of light. Ms. Rand’s view of the world is characterized in New York’s & The New York Times' reviews of her new biographies; I associate her novels with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Diamond As Big As the Ritz as both authors try to express the cause/effect of material wealth on modern civilization.
